Minuteman Harley-Davidson was born on August 1, 2008.  Owners Dan and Martha Desmond purchased the dealership in Westport, formerly known as Big Boar Harley-Davidson.  On October 1, 2008 the dealership moved to its’ new location, 1.3 miles east on Route 6, at 799 State Road in Dartmouth.

Dan has a long history in the motorcycle business and with Harley-Davidson.  He has been the General Manager at both Seacoast Harley-Davidson in North Hampton, NH and Seminole Harley-Davidson in Sanford, FL.  The Desmond’s moved back to New England to purchase the dealership after spending two years in Florida.

The new store, expanded in 2010, is now almost 30,000 square feet.  The recent addition of a 7000 square foot extension was added for more winter storage space and is racked and wired for that purpose.  The Service Department occupies over 9000 square feet and is equipped with all the latest technology that Harley-Davidson has to offer, and the Harley-Davidson trained technicians are certified in the latest products and diagnostic equipment. 

The showroom was expanded in 2009 to add an outside deck on the front of the building to allow for more motorcycle display space.  The Sales Department is staffed with highly trained professionals that can answer all your questions about the new and used motorcycles we offer for sale.

Our Parts and Accessory Department, as well as our General Merchandise Department are also staffed with experienced professionals eager to satisfy your motorcycling needs.

In addition, Minuteman Harley-Davidson offers rental motorcycles during the riding season, from May until October.  Check out our website for all the models available as well as the rental requirements.

If you are looking to learn how to ride a motorcycle we also offer two motorcycle safety courses.  The Beginning Rider Course, BRC, is part of our Rider’s Edge program and is designed for new riders, or riders who want to brush up on their skills and get their motorcycle endorsement.  Good for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island customers, this course teaches riding skills and safety skills as laid out by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  We provide the motorcycles, you learn the skills.  We also offer the Experienced Rider Course, ERC, a one day course for more experienced riders who want to hone their riding skills on their own motorcycle.  This course will also make you eligible for your motorcycle endorsement.  Call our Rider’s Edge Department to ask for all the details.

We are proud of what we have accomplished in our first two years at this new location.  We have grown from 7 employees to over 30 employees and look forward to serving our South Coast customers for many years to come.
